SYNOPSIS
The Cessna FR172K aircraft, with one Pilot and one passenger on board, was en route from Rathcoole Aerodrome, Co. Cork (EIRT) to Tibohine Airfield, Co. Roscommon. When the aircraft was north-west of Loughrea, Co. Galway, the Pilot noticed that the engine oil pressure was decreasing and that some oily smoke had emanated from the engine cowlings. This was followed by the failure of the engine. The Pilot made a MAYDAY call to Shannon Air Traffic Control (ATC), to inform them of the situation and that he was going to carry out an emergency landing. During the attempted landing in an agricultural field, the aircraft contacted the ground hard and sustained substantial damage, resulting in the serious injury of the Pilot and passenger. The Pilot and passenger were assisted from the aircraft by two passers-by. There was no fire.

SYNOPSIS
The Student Pilot was returning to the departure airfield following a solo general handling exercise. The approach was high and fast, and following the initial touchdown, the aircraft bounced. The aircraft then contacted the runway, nose-wheel first, and following further bounces, was brought to rest on the runway with substantial damage. The Student sustained a minor injury subsequent to exiting the aircraft. There was no fire.

SYNOPSIS
On 27 May 2020, the paramotor carrying one Pilot departed Magharees, Co. Kerry. The Pilot’s intention was to perform a short leisure flight in the local area. At approximately 12.00 hrs, the paramotor passed overhead a caravan park near the village of Camp and turned to return to the point of departure. The Pilot said that having executed the turn, he did not adjust the setting of the wing trims which resulted in a rapid loss of altitude. The Paramotor struck and became entangled in electrical transmission cables overhead the caravan park. The cables broke and the Pilot and paramotor fell to the ground. The Pilot sustained minor injuries.

SYNOPSIS
The aircraft, an ATR 72-212A, was approaching Dublin Airport (EIDW) following a scheduled passenger flight from Edinburgh Airport (EGPH) in the United Kingdom. During the intermediate descent prior to commencing the published instrument approach procedure, the aircraft descended below the altitude assigned by the Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO). The ‘Minimum Safe Altitude Warning’ (MSAW) activated on the ATCO’s radar screen to warn the ATCO about the aircraft’s continued descent. When contacted by the ATCO, the Commander initiated a missed approach, climbed to a safe altitude and obtained radar vectors for a second approach. The aircraft subsequently landed at EIDW without further incident. There were no injuries reported to the Investigation and the aircraft was undamaged.

SYNOPSIS
The Savannah S aircraft departed from Navan Airfield, Co. Meath for a local flight. Shortly after take-off, and while still over the runway, the aircraft experienced an uncommanded loss of engine power. The Pilot attempted an emergency landing onto the remaining runway. After touchdown, the aircraft passed through a wire fence at the end of the runway and came to rest nine metres beyond the fence. The Pilot, who was the sole occupant, was uninjured and exited the aircraft unaided. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. There was no fire.

SYNOPSIS
The aircraft, an ICP Ventura, was approaching the easterly runway at Tubride Airfield, Co. Meath. As it was flared for landing, the left wing dropped, and struck the ground. The nose landing gear subsequently impacted with the ground and detached from the aircraft. The aircraft slid along the runway on its nose cowling for approximately 20 metres, resulting in substantial damage to the propeller blades. There were no injuries to either of the two occupants on board. There was no fire.
